Angles for sin/cos/tan are entered in degrees and converted to radians internally (since JavaScript's trigonometric functions work in radians); the power mode computes a raised to the power b; the logarithm mode computes the log of a to base b.

Negative values under the square root are treated as zero rather than producing an imaginary result, and invalid logarithm inputs (a non-positive base, a base of 1, or a non-positive value for a) show as a blank result rather than an error, since this tool is designed for real-number classroom use.

Why does the angle need to be in degrees?+

Most students work in degrees by default, so the calculator accepts degrees and converts internally to radians for the sin/cos/tan modes, which is what those functions require mathematically.

What happens if I enter a negative number under the square root?+
